Liverpool’s transfer failure could cost them title

Liverpool are looking like they are serious title contenders this year, as rivals Arsenal, Manchester City and United all dropped points. Their dangerous front three is a threat for anyone, as they showed in their shredding of West Brom on Saturday.

Even their defence, which has let them down so badly in the last few seasons, looks stronger. Joel Matip is settling in nicely, Dejan Lovren is playing the best football he’s played for the Reds, and James Milner has replaced a series of chaotic left-backs with his dependable presence.

The glaring weakness in this Liverpool side is the goalkeeper.

After years of shaky play from Simon Mignolet, Liverpool finally bought in a new keeper in the shape of Loris Karius, who then proceeded to get injured immediately. Since his return, however, he has looked at least as bad as his Belgian teammate. It’s astonishing that this issue is sill ongoing at Anfield, and once again, it looks as though poor play between the sticks could cost them the title.
