Barcelona are interested in signing former Stoke City midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Mundo Deportivo report that N’Zonzi is seen by the La Liga giants as a useful alternative to Sergio Busquets in the midfield holding role. It is claimed that Chelsea, Manchester City and Juventus are all also interested in the Frenchman.
The Spanish outlet believe that N’Zonzi’s current contract expires in 2019. It is noted that there is a buy-out clause of £26.7 million that would need to be paid in full should any side wish to sign the 27-year-old.
N’Zonzi made 195 Premier League appearances across six years with both Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City. Last summer he moved to Spanish side Sevilla, where he played an integral role in their Europa League success.
It is not often that a player can combine physical dominance and technical prowess, but N’Zonzi appears to have found the perfect blend. Though he stands at 6 ft 3, with the ball at his feet he is accurate and effective.
