Arsenal on verge of sealing £200,000-a-week deal to secure influential ace’s long-term future

Arsenal are reportedly close to getting Mesut Ozil to commit his long-term future to the club by signing a new £200,000-a-week contract.

The 28-year-old has been in fine form so far this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 14 appearances in all competitions to help lead the Gunners to a strong start to the campaign.

According to The Mirror, it could be about to get even better as his representatives and Arsenal have held further discussions over a new deal during the international break.

The Gunners are confident that he will commit his future and are willing to make him their highest-paid player with a new £200,000-a-week deal, and it looks as though the two parties are ready to sign off on the contract.

It will be a major boost for Arsenal should they sign the German international to an extension, as it will be another statement of their ambition to keep their best players and continue to evolve into a genuine contender both at home and in Europe in the coming years.

As noted in the report, Hector Bellerin has already agreed terms with the club and will likely sign a new contract soon, although it remains to be seen whether or not Alexis Sanchez follows suit as like Ozil, his current deal has just 18 months remaining on it.

Having seemingly successfully convinced Ozil to commit his future, it’s likely that Sanchez will follow suit. However, with the club doing their part to show their intentions, it will now be up to the players to continue to have a positive influence on the team and results in order to repay the faith shown in them by taking the club forward and achieving the objectives set out.
