Man Utd misfit desperate for Pochettino reunion as Tottenham ace’s £50m exit could spark move

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw is reportedly desperate for Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino to swoop and rescue him from his Old Trafford nightmare.

The England international came through the ranks at Southampton and spent 11 years at the club as he worked with the Argentine tactician before moving to United in 2014.

Having gone through his struggles under Louis van Gaal, while also suffering the serious setback of a broken leg two years ago, Shaw’s problems have doubled since Jose Mourinho took charge.

With just 15 appearances in all competitions to his name this season, the 21-year-old has struggled badly to prove himself to the United boss and in turn he has been snubbed regularly from squads and was again the subject of public criticism at the weekend.

In turn, The Sun note that Shaw is starting to believe that he has no other choice but to leave Manchester this summer, and is desperate for Tottenham and Pochettino to rescue him.

Combined with the fact that there are fears over Danny Rose moving to Manchester City in a deal worth £50m this summer, Spurs could be in the market for a new left-back and if Shaw is available, then the whole situation could make sense as it would see them make money and bring in a player in desperate need of a confidence boost to get back to being the top player many believed he would become.

It’s added that peace talks between Shaw and Mourinho took place and he’s in the squad to face Everton this week, but ultimately he remains behind Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Ashley Young in the pecking order and must move on to get his career back on track.

Shaw wants to join Spurs, as per the Sun, now it’s up to Pochettino to decide whether or not he needs the formers Saints ace, particularly in the event that Rose moves on.
