The hero of Arsenal’s amazing 2-0 victory over AC Milan at the San Siro in the UEFA Champions League was a certain 20-year old Spanish international midfielder named Cesc Fabregas. Beside scoring the first in the 83rd minute of the match, Fabregas was fabulous throughout with his crisp passing and intelligent tackles and even managed to outshine the great Kaka.
This is what young Cesc has to say after the match:
We don’t have 25 internationals like Chelsea so we were never going to be able to challenge for all four trophies but we’re still in contention for the two that really matter.
We are top of the Premier League and through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating the holders at home, so why can’t we win them both?
This is a dream come true. To win in Milan 2-0, it is amazing. William [Gallas] said before the game to enjoy the atmosphere. That is what we did. But this is just the beginning. We are now in the quarter-finals but we have not done anything. It is just one more step.
Arsenal are now into the last 8 of the Champions League this season and it is indeed a great tribute to this young, talented but somewhat inexperienced side that they have reached so far in the competition and that too by dumping out the reigning European champions AC Milan. Can Arsene Wenger’s men (sorry, boys) go all the way to Moscow?
