Arsenal defender could be set for shock departure! Does it hurt their chances?

Goodness me, football never ceases to amaze you. When you hear the words ‘Arsenal defender’ and ‘Milan’ in the same sentence, you might think Gael Clichy has betrayed the Gunners, or perhaps William Gallas is done with people questioning his captaincy of the team and wants to hook up with compatriot Flamini at the San Siro. However, it’s neither of them, nor Toure or Sagna that the Italian giants have been linked with, oh no.

Instead, Sky Sports reports that Philippe Senderos could be packing his bags and jetting off to the fashion capital of the world instead. The Swiss defender has been associated with calamity for much of his time with the Gunners, despite having a fair few decent performances in the red and white of Arsenal. Has he played his last game for the north London side?

It is claimed Milan could turn to centre-back Senderos before the close of the transfer window, and Leonardo has done little to ease the mounting rumours surrounding a transfer.

He told Mediaset: “Senderos? There is nothing definite but the market is open until 31st August.”

However, the player’s agent claims there has been no official approach from Milan.

“I have no news about it, I am currently on holiday and I have not had any official contact,” Franco Granello told calciomercato.com.

Before you start getting too excited Milan fans, it’s always dangerous to read into this speculation simply because someone doesn’t deny that they are interested in signing a player. Perhaps somewhere down the list of targets lies Senderos, who will be approached if the other 762 defenders get crocked in the next few days.
