Not the news White Hart Lane fans will want to see, following a weekend defeat at the hands of Stoke City!
SIR ALEX FERGUSON has targeted Gareth Bale to strengthen the left side of Manchester United’s defence.
The move is sure to spark another row with Spurs after the long battle over Dimitar Berbatov.
Despite injury since arriving at White Hart Lane from Southampton, Wales international Bale, 19, has been checked out by the Old Trafford scouts.
Bale was signed for £5million from Saints in a deal which could rise to £10m. In August he extended his Spurs deal by four years.
United may make their move in January, with realistic hopes of clinching a deal next summer. (News of the World)
I guess its no surprise really. If your team is struggling big time at the foot of the table, then the big names will be linked with moves away from the club. Gareth Bale has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool and it won’t make good reading for Spurs fans to see that Sir Alex has an eye on the talented young wing-back.
The teenager is an astounding talent who will surely turn down any such move, given that the north London club gave him his first shot at the big time. You can see why Manchester United would be after the £14m-rated Welshman, but after the whole Dimitar saga, even a move to Anfield would be more likely, even with the Keane move still hurting.
All in all, I am sure that Bale will be going nowhere as he seeks to keep his side above the relegation line. Do Spurs fans have any worries about their off-form star players possibly being picked off one by one?
