Queens Park Rangers have joined the race to sign French midfielder Etienne Capoue and will rival Arsenal and Everton for his signature.

Having missed out on Yann M’Vila, his number one target to the fill the defensive midfield role at Loftus Road, after he opted to move to Russian side Rubin Kazan over the Premier League club, QPR manager Harry Redknapp has turned his attention to Toulouse star Capoue.

Arsenal have been connected with a move for the 24-year-old French international midfielder, who was also reported to be the subject of a £9million bid from Everton. But, according to the Daily Mail, QPR are ready to throw significant money at Capoue, who has spent his entire career at Toulouse and who is one of the stars of Ligue 1.

Redknapp, who has secured the signing of forward Loic Remy from Marseille already in the transfer window, is eager to make another breakthrough following failed bids for a number of defenders and M’Vila.

He has been linked with a swoop for Blackburn Rovers defenders Martin Olsson and Scott Dann as well as midfielder Niko Kranjcar, who Redknapp managed at Portsmouth and Tottenham, from Dinamo Kiev.
