French striker to join Serie A side.
Nicolas Anelka is to notch up his 10th club after agreeing to join Juventus on loan for the remainder of the season.
Anelka, the 33-year-old French international striker, is to put pen to paper on a six-month deal with Juventus and joins from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua, who he has been with for the last 12 months having signed from Chelsea.
Juventus had been interested in signing Anelka’s Shanghai Shenhua team-mate Didier Drogba, but the discussions over a move back to Europe hit a snag and the club’s attention then turned to signing Anelka, who was also a target for Queens Park Rangers, West Ham and previous club Paris Saint-Germain.
It is understood that Juventus, who have completed the signing of Spanish international striker Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao this month although he will not join until the summer, have the option to extend Anelka’s contract beyond the summer if he impresses in Serie A.
Juventus will be Anelka’s 10th club following earlier spells PSG (twice), Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Fenerbahce, Bolton, Chelsea and Shanghai Shenhua.
