Arsenal are preparing a summer move to sign Dutch international full-back Daryl Janmaat from Feyenoord.
The Daily Mirror report that the 23-year-old is at the top of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s wanted list of replacements for Bacary Sagna should the 30-year-old leave the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
French international Sagna will have only 12 months of his contract left to run in the summer and has been the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and clubs in the Middle East over a cut price move.
Wenger has not ruled out holding on to Sagna for the final year of his contract, but has earmarked Janmaat as his preferred successor after having him watched playing for Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Janmaat appears to hold the upper hand on Arsenal’s own Carl Jenkinson as the likely replacement for Sagna.
Janmaat started out with Den Haag before joining Heerenveen, who he won the Dutch Cup with in 2009. He only joined Feyenoord in the summer when making a free transfer move but could represent a significant profit if sold in the summer.
He made his international debut earlier this season and has three caps for Holland to his name, to go alongside 11 under-21 appearances.
