Southampton and West Ham played out a 1-1 draw in the Premier League at St Mary’s Stadium.
Southampton took the lead against West Ham United but were unable to hold on until the end.
The match still illustrated the progress made under Mauricio Pochettino, with Gaston Ramirez firing the Saints into the lead.
A low and powerful free kick from on-loan Liverpool striker Andy Carroll saved the Hammers’ blushes though.
Whilst both sides will have wanted the victory, in truth a share of the points each was probably a safe result – and neither team will be relegated at the end of the season.
