German international due to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea look set to complete a deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle, according to talkSPORT.
The London club have been strongly linked with the German international over the last few months and it now appears that the Stamford Bridge side are set to land their man.
Representatives from Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea reportedly met in London over the last few days and have now concluded talks regarding a £20 million deal.
Chelsea are thought to have a had a £14 million bid for Schurrle rejected last year. That prompted speculation over recent months that the club could make another bid for the forward using Belgian youngster Kevin de Bruyne as a makeweight.
But it now appears that the Stamford Bridge side have upped their offer to £20 million and the Bundesliga side look ready to accept.
Schurrle has scored eleven goals in thirty eight games for the German giants this season, under the management of former Liverpool centre back Sami Hyypia.
Chelsea will be hoping Schurrle can add some much needed firepower to their side as they begin to look for alternatives to misfiring Spanish striker Fernando Torres, although the German has spent most of this season on the left wing for the Germans.
Torres has failed to hit the back of the net with the kind of regularity Chelsea were expecting since he made his £50 million move from Liverpool in January 2011.
