Chelsea’s long term pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle may be nearing it’s completion.

German source RP-Online.de quote Bayer Leverkusen director Wolfgang Holzhauser stating that a deal has already been reached by the Stamford Bridge side and that as far as he was concerned that deal was very much done and dusted.

Holzhauser states;

“We agreed with Chelsea. They buy Schurrle for a specific transfer fee, and in return we get De Bruyne on-loan for one year,”

“I assume that Chelsea will honour what has been agreed.”

The main issue with a much discussed swap deal between the Premier League side and the German top tier club relates to Belgian Kevin de Bruyne, who has been seen as a makeweight in any deal to bring Schurrle to West London.

Many sources believe that the impressive young midfielder is pushing for a move to Borussia Dortmund, perhaps seeing himself as an ideal replacement for Bayern Munich bound Mario Gotze. Interest that German source Bild believes is mutual.

22 year old German international Schurrle has already stated that he believes he has played his last game for Bayer Leverkusen and with two previous failed bids from Chelsea it’s fair to assume Roman Abramovich is keen to make a third one work in his favour, even if it means using De Bruyne to sweeten the deal.

With Fernando Torres and Demba Ba failing to prove their consistency as Blues striking options the addition of an adaptable talent like Schurrle would certainly be a wise one for Chelsea to pursue.
