Bayer Leverkusen are expecting to hold talks with returning Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho this week over the deal involving Andre Schurrle, Sky Sports reports.

Reports in Germany hint that Schurrle’s drawn out £20million move to the west London club is close to completion and the only thing holding the deal up is the part-exchange for Belgian youngster Kevin De Bruyne.

Mourinho is likely to talk transfer business with Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller on Wednesday evening, when they will be in opposing dugouts for German legend Michael Ballack’s testimonial game.

Schurrle will be taking part in the match, in which Mourinho will manage a World XI against a side bossed by Voller.

“The main focus will be on Michael and quite rightly so,” Voller said.

“But we are working on a solution for Andre and it is inevitable I will speak to Mourinho afterwards.”

Chelsea have reportedly been keen on the German international for years and have been on the verge of signing him for the past few months but Leverkusen have managed to keep a hold of him until the end of the campaign.

However, the hold up is believed to be caused by Kevin De Bruyne’s preference of joining Borussia Dortmund ahead of Leverkusen instead.
