Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery is set to commit his future to the club by signing a new deal to keep him at the Alianz Arena, Sky Sports reports.

The French international was seen as somewhat of a coup when he joined the Bavarian side in 2007, and his current deal runs until 2015, but after being a central figure in the side’s historic treble winning season the Champions League winners are eager to tie him down for longer.

The 30-year-old has also stated that he would like to end his career with the club by saying: “We have discussed it all,” he said. “And saying ‘yes’ means ‘yes’ to me. We would not really need a player (to sign on).

“But I know we have to sign and this will happen as soon as possible, although there is no use to feeling like being in a rush.

“I am excited about being at Bayern Munich. I am very happy too, like I have never been in my life before. Why should I join another club? To move elsewhere and potentially feel less happy?

“If I am going to retire from the game as a Bayern Munich player I would like to do it as a ‘Grand Seigneur’, with a testimonial match.”
