Dutch striker confident of hitting the back of the net.
New Norwich City striker Ricky Van Wolsfwinkel has promised the club’s fans that he will fire them up the Premier League table according to Goal.com.
The Dutch striker signed at the end of last season from Sporting Lisbon after the club successfully managed to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The deal was agreed many months ago but was briefly cast into doubt when it became unclear what division Norwich would be playing in this season.
The deal agreed with Van Wolfswinkel reportedly relied on Norwich retaining their Premier League status.
In the end, the Canaries managed to finish in a comfortable 11th position and they will be hoping to build on that this year having secured the signing of Van Wolfswinkel.
The striker scored a highly impressive 45 goals in 87 games for Sporting Lisbon and the Portuguese side would have been desperate to keep him were it not for their financial difficulties.
Van Wolfswinkel is exactly what the Norwich squad needs after they struggled to hit the back of the net last season. They scored a mere 41 goals in 38 games and will be hoping Van Wolfswinkel’s attacking prowess will prevent that statistic from being repeated.
Grant Holt looks unlikely to be the Dutch striker’s partner next season though after Norwich agreed a fee with Wigan for the powerhouse forward.
