Villa Park side look to bring in Stamford Bridge forward to replace Christian Benteke.
Aston Villa are lining up a move for Chelsea striker Demba Ba as a possible replacement for want-away ace Christian Benteke according to the Daily Star.
Paul Lambert will hope to use any sum garnered from the sale of Belgian Benteke to bring in reinforcements and this source claims that 28 year old Senegal international Ba would only cost £7m, which would be less than a third of the £25m the Villa Park side are looking to make from the sale of their top-scorer.
Demba Ba proved a success at Newcastle United but managed just two Premier League goals following his January move to Stamford Bridge and may well not be part of Jose Mourinho’s plans next term.
Lambert’s front three of Benteke, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann were very effective last term, especially in the final months of the campaign, and the Scot will look to bring in Ba to fill any void that could result in the sale of Benteke.
Prior to his move Chelsea Ba more than proved himself a consistent Premier League marksman scored seven goals in ten starts for West Ham and 29 goals in 57 appearances for Newcastle United.
