The Brazilian has also been linked with Premier League clubs, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Bundesliga club Wolfsburg have admitted that they are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo, feeling that the Brazilian would be an excellent addition to their squad, Goal.com reports.
Gustavo has been linked with a move away from the European Champions this summer following the arrival of Thiago Alcantara at the Allianz Arena.
The Spaniard’s arrival at Bayern has increased the competition in the clubs midfield and Gustavo is worried that he won’t get enough first team football next season and miss out on a place in Brazil’s squad for next summers World Cup.
Wolfsburg’s sporting director Klaus Alloff is keen to lure Gustavo to the club with the promise of first team football.
“When the speculations about Bayern having too many midfielders came up, we said that Luiz Gustavo would be a player who’d fit us very well in terms of his quality,” Alloffs told SID.
“However, initially there are a lot of obstacles standing in a way in order to complete a deal. We already talked to his agent and informed Bayern about our interest, but so far, that’s all.”
Gustavo has struggled to hold down a regular place in Bayern’s first team since he joined the club in 2011.
Chelsea are reportedly also interested in signing the midfielder, with both wanting to sign a holding midfielder before the start of the Premier League season.
