Bayern Munich have rejected an approach from fellow Bundesliga rivals Schalke 04 for wonderkid Xheridan Shaqiri who has failed to make a huge impact following his move from Basel in 2012 according to Goal.com.

Pep Guardiola has made his stamp on the team bringing in Mario Gotze [from Dortmund] and Thaigo Alcantara [from Barcelona] which has brought much speculation about the 21 year-old’s future with the European champions but news outlet Bild have claimed otherwise.

Schalke’s manager Horst Heldt, whom is keen to replace outgoing Michel Bastos, had this to say to Bild : “I got in touch with Matthias Sammer to ask him about Xherdan Shaqiri’s availability. Unfortunately, he made it clear that they do not want to let go of him.”

Another bright prospect, Emre Can, has already experienced the cold wrath of being left out in the cold due to Guardiola’s new signings despite him being regarded as one of Germany’s brightest prospects at just 19 years-old.

The young midfielder wanted to leave the Allianz Arena following the tough competition and his desire to play first team football, which is when German side Bayer Leverkusen stepped up their interest and signed the German under 21 international on a four-year deal, for an undisclosed fee.

“Bayer Leverkusen are one of the top teams in the Bundesliga and play in the Champions League as well. I want to play my part in helping the team to success in each competition they compete in in the years to come,” Emre told reports.

Bayern do have the option to re-sign Can in the future, but at this stage any deal seems unlikely.
