Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claims that the clubs move for Luis Suarez is on “stand-by” following the news that the striker could take legal action against Liverpool in a bid for force his way to the Emirates, Goal.com reports.
The Gunners have already had two bids rejected by Liverpool, one a £40 million plus £1 bid that was designed to trigger a release clause in Suarez contract.
Suarez himself claims that Liverpool promised him that he could leave if a club playing in the Champions League paid more than £35 million for him.
Wenger has said that the move for Suarez is on stand-by for the time being with the Frenchman keen to not antagonise Liverpool.
“At the moment the situation is on standby,” Wenger told Al Jazeera Sport. “I heard that [Suarez is considering legal action to force a move] but this is sometimes linked with things that you don’t know as a potential buyer.
“That is the story between Suarez and Liverpool and I don’t know what has been said, what has been promised and what has been written and that is only Suarez and Liverpool that can decide that”.
Wenger is growing frustrated at the slow process of signing players this summer.
It has been reported that the Frenchman has a record transfer budget to spend on players but so far he has be unable to add to his squad and has seen targets like Gonzalo Higuain move to Napoli.
