Valencia full-back Anfield bound?

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Valencia left-back Aly Cissokho is on the brink of joining Liverpool after revealing he has agreed personal terms with the Anfield side according to the Daily Express.

The 25-year-old former Lyon defender confirmed reports of a possible deal, saying: “Liverpool came to me and it’s true that I have agreed to join them. Now it’s down to the clubs to decide a transfer deal.”

Brendan Rodgers’ side look light on full-backs following the retirement of Jamie Carragher plus the loan move for youngster Jack Robinson to Blackpool.

Cissokho has now declared that he is very close to making the switch to Merseyside but insists the two sides are yet work out the structure of a deal with the Reds keen on loaning the player for the season with an option to make it permanent at the end of the season. But the La Liga side would rather see the defender leave the Mestalla promptly.

Cissokho added: “Liverpool have made me an offer and it is true that I have reached an agreement with them,” he told Le 10 Sport. “It is now up to the clubs to agree terms. I expect to know more later this week.

“If nothing happens this week, it probably means that I will not be going to Liverpool.

“The conditions of the transfer are the problem. Liverpool prefer a loan deal with an option to buy, while Valencia want to sell straight away. If the transfer doesn’t take place, it’s not a problem either. I am feeling well at Valencia.”

The full-back, who has won a solo cap for his country, could now become the fifth summer arrival at Anfield following Simon Mignloet, Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas and Kolo Toure to the club.
