Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes that Cristano Ronaldo wants to stay with the club and thinks that the player will sign a new contract by the end of the summer, Goal.com reports.

Perez believes that Ronaldo will end his career at Madrid and the player celebrated one of his two goals in the friendly against Chelsea by pointing his finger at the clubs crest on his shirt.

The forward has been heavily linked with a move back to Manchester United, with some reports suggesting that Ronaldo is unhappy at Los Blancos.

However, Perez is confident that the forward will sign a new contract soon and commit the rest of his career to the club.

“We are all convinced that he will end his playing days at Real Madrid,” Perez told ESPN.

“At the end of the summer we will try to resolve this matter.

“The season starts next week, but before the end of the month or the beginning of next month, I’m sure [it will be sorted out].”

Ronaldo is set to enter his fifth season with Madrid and has scored 146 goals in just 135 games for the club.

Real Madrid will hope to partner Ronaldo with Spurs winger Gareth Bale next season.

The club are currently in negotiations with Spurs about bringing the Welshman to the Bernabeu for a world record £85 million.
