Valencia defender wanted by Serie A outfit.
Napoli have reportedly made a £5million bid for Valencia defender Adil Rami, who has also been linked as a target for Arsenal and Manchester City this summer, according to talkSPORT.
New Napoli manager Rafael Benitez, who joined this summer after a spell in charge of Chelsea last season, has been keen to strengthen his defence all summer, with failed attempts for the likes of Thomas Vermaelen of Arsenal and Martin Skrtel of Liverpool.
He could now make a raid on his old club Valencia, who may have to accept an offer as low as £5million due to their ongoing financial troubles, and it is thought that the French international would welcome a move away from the club.
Los Che missed out on a Champions League spot in La Liga last year, and Rami wants to be playing for a bigger club in the hope that he can force his way into France’s squad for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
This will come as a blow for Arsenal, who are in need of new additions at the back with the current loss of fitness and form of Vermaelen, and who looked decidedly vulnerable in defence in their opening day Premier League defeat to Aston Villa.
Valencia also recently lost key player Roberto Soldado, who moved to Tottenham for £26million.
