Done Deal: Sunderland Sign Liverpool Striker Fabio Borini On Loan Deal

Sunderland have officially signed Liverpool striker Fabio Borini on a season long loan spell.

The 22 year old Italian international is Paolo Di Canio’s 12th signing of the summer and the Black Cats boss will hope that the former Roma man can help provide some extra firepower having seen his Sunderland side start the season in a stuttering fashion.

Borini has managed just one goal in 13 Premier League appearances since his £10.5m move to Merseyside last July and with the arrival of Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas, coupled with the great form Daniel Sturridge has displayed of late and the fact that Luis Suarez appears to be staying put it may well prove likely that an offer for the misfiring striker could be accepted.

Di Canio has seen his side score just two goals in their opening three matches and the BBC believe that the Sunderland manager may elect to look to bring in Borini on a loan deal.

Sunderland have purchased a number of players this summer, including striker Jozy Altidore, but Di Canio may have felt the possibility to bring in Borini on a temporary move was too good an opportunity to pass up.
