Talismanic striker wanted Ligue 1 stay.
Paris Saint Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has insisted that leaving the club this summer had never crossed his mind despite him being linked with a number of clubs at several points during the transfer window, Sky Sports reports.
The Sweden international has been with the Parisian big spenders for just 12 months, but has seen his future there called into question constantly during that time.
Rumours of a return to his former stomping grounds in Italy had been mooted, with Juventus and AC Milan both thought to be keen on bringing him back to Serie A, but no concrete offers were ever made. Chelsea and Manchester City were also mentioned as possible suitors from the Premier League this summer.
The club’s big-money acquisition of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani only served to intensify the rumours that his days in France were numbered, with many believing that the 31-year-old would be sacrificed in order to make way for the Uruguayan international.
However, the temperamental forward has insisted that an exit from the Parc des Princes was never on the cards and that he remains committed to helping defend their Ligue 1 title this season.
“I always knew that I would not leave Paris St Germain this summer. The club takes care of me very well,” he said.
“Of course, you never know what will happen, but I never really considered leaving PSG.”
