Liverpool have been given the all clear to make an offer for long term striker target Lacina Traore according to the Metro.

The 23 year old Anzhi forward has been told he can leave the Russian Premier League side in January as the club looks to continue their cost cutting exercise, which has seen the likes of Willian and Samuel Eto’o move to Chelsea.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is known to be a big fan of the 6ft 8in forward and is ready to make a January offer for a player who cost Anzhi £15m a little over a year ago with the Dagestan based club said to be ready to listen to offers of half that amount.

One would have thought that Liverpool had enough attacking options at present, especially with Daniel Sturridge being in a rich run of form and Luis Suarez making an instant impact following the completion of his ten match ban. Rodgers can also call upon summer signing Iago Aspas for further strength in depth though perhaps the Liverpool boss feels he needs to bring in another forward to help his push for a top four finish.

Traore has scored 18 goals in 44 appearances for Anzhi in all competitions.
