Fellow German played alongside new Gunners star in the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid midfield player Sami Khedira says that recent new Arsenal signing Mesut Ozil will win the north London club the Premier League title this season, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.
The coveted Germany international joined the Gunners from the Spanish giants in the final hours on transfer deadline day for a club-record fee of £42.4 million, with Ozil agreeing a bumper five-year deal worth a whopping £200,000 per week.
However, already that is looking like money well spent by the Premier League outfit, with Arsenal riding high in both the Premier League and the Uefa Champions League after what was a tough start to the new season for the club when they surprisingly lost 3-1 at the Emirates to Aston Villa back in August.
But, since that shock reverse in the Premier League and the subsequent capture of the highly rated Germany international from los Blancos, head coach Arsene Wenger has seen his team win every match that they have played.
And now Ozil’s former team-mate at the Santiago Bernabeu and compatriot Khedira believes that the twinkle-toed playmaker can inspire his new side all the way to the Premier League title next May.
“Arsenal had a strong team anyway, but Mesut makes them the best team in England,” said Khedira.
“I am sure he can be the player that makes things happen for them and win them the championship.
“Mesut is a genius on the field, there is no other way to describe him.
“Of course, there was some disappointment among the players at Madrid because he is the best in his position in the world. But I understand his decision as a player and also as my friend.
“He is already playing amazing football for Arsenal and he hasn’t even got used to the Premier League yet.”
