Arsenal are reportedly on red alert following news that QPR are ready to offload Brazilian international keeper Julio Cesar in January according to the Metro.

The experienced custodian has not featured for the Loftus Road side this season and is a player the Championship side are no doubt keen to remove from their balance sheet, the former Inter Milan is said to be on a deal worth around £90k a week, and as such are willing to allow the goalkeeper to leave on a free transfer.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has publicly confirmed this to be the case stating;

‘He needs to play and I feel he’s a player who could play for any team in the world,’

‘We won’t stand in his way. We’ll let him go for free.’

Arsenal are said to be looking to bring in a quality keeper to keep Wojciech Szczesny on his toes and with Lukasz Fabianski failing to impress and Italian summer signing Emiliano Viviano still having not even played for the club a move for Cesar makes sense.

Prior to his move to QPR Cesar spent seven successful seasons at Inter Milan, helping the San Siro side to five Serie A titles and a Champions League success and a move back to the top flight will no doubt interest the Super Hoops star.

A move to Arsenal would also help to cement his spot in Felipe Scolari’s national team set-up ahead of the 2014 World Cup finals.
