Man City are reportedly ready to make a mammoth £40m bid for Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer according to the Daily Star.

Etihad Stadium boss Manuel Pellegrini is confident he can lure the German international to the club with the offer of a £105k a week salary, in excess of any other custodian in world football.

Such a move would certainly leave England man Joe Hart questioning his future at the club, if he isn’t already doing so, though the dropped keeper will be between the sticks as Man City take on Bayern Munich next Tuesday night.

Even though Neuer would be offered a bumper pay rise there seems little reason why the 27 year old would consider leaving such a dominant Bayern Munich side.

Neuer has been in fine form this term as his Allianz Arena side look set to romp towards another Bundesliga title, having conceded just seven goals in 15 fixtures and opened a big lead at the top of the table.

Pellegrini may be better served looking at alternative options if he doesn’t see either Hart or Costel Pantilimon as viable first choice options.

Perhaps a move to capture Barcelona’s Victor Valdes is an option as the Spaniard has already stated his intention to leave the Nou Camp next summer.
