The pint sized midfield dynamo has long been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium and perhaps the chances of a Stade Velodrome exit are all the more likely given his side’s struggles this term.

Marseille lost all six of their Champions League group encounters and sitting in sixth spot in Ligue 1, some 15 points of leaders PSG, form that led to the sacking of Elie Baup.

Valbuena offers plenty of steel and determination as well as being able to drive the ball forward and perhaps a player Arsene Wenger would be keen to bring in to boost his ranks in January.

29 year old Valbuena is a hugely experienced performer who has 289 appearances for Marseille during his eight seasons at the club but may feel that now is the right time to consider a fresh challenge, not least as a high profile move to Arsenal could aid his push for a more prominent role in Didier Deschamps 2014 World Cup finals squad.
