Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski is continuing to build up to full fitness following the German’s long layoff with a hamstring injury last year, as can be seen by all the hard work that the player had been putting in in the gym of late.

The experienced Germany international missed much of  the first half of the campaign after tearing his hamstring in the north London club’s Uefa Champions League play-off tie against Turkish giants Fenerbahce back in August.

However, since returning to training towards the end of the year, the Premier League leaders have been slowly easing the attacker back to full fitness by handing Podolski small cameo appearances from the substitutes’ bench, before stepping up his recovery by giving the 28-year-old the odd start here and there as well.

And the Gunners really need the player to remain fit between now and the end of the campaign as Wenger and Co go in search of a first Premier League title since 2004, and a first piece of silverware for nine years.

So far, Podolski has managed to register three goals and two assists in total in his seven matches in all competitions for Arsenal.
