The Merseyside giants have reportedly been eyeing up a number of targets in this month’s window, although as yet the club have been unable to get any players in through the door.
The Reds had appeared to be on the verge last week of sealing a £12m move for Egypt international Mohamed Salah, that is until arch rivals Chelsea entered the race for the winger’s signature right at the end of negotiations, with the west London club eventually landing the player instead.
And that represented a huge setback for Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers, with the Northern Irishman having been tracking Salah for some time now, with the player his number one target of the window.
However,Rodgers has since fallen back on to his second-choice wing targets, and will now go all out in order to try and land Atletico’s brilliant Turkey international.
The 27-year-old has been in the Spanish capital now for the past three years, and despite having only recently renegotiated his contract with Atleti until June 2017, it is said the La Liga outfit would be willing to listen to offers upwards of £20m for the player.
