Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song could be set for a move back to the Premier League with Man United said to be very interested in signing the Barcelona bit-part player according to the Daily Mirror.

The 26 year old has struggled to retain a foothold in the Barcleona first term and may be ready to consider a move back to the English top tier, where he enjoyed seven seasons at the Emirates Stadium.

Song would provide David Moyes with some much needed bite to help repel opposition advances and may well be made available by a Catalan side that doesn’t appear to have much of a need to keep hold of the defensive midfielder.

The Man United boss is likely to offload Anderson on a permanent basis, with the Brazilian currently on loan at Fiorentina, and Tom Cleverley is playing for his future after a series of ineffective displays whilst veteran Ryan Giggs may opt to hang up his boots at the end of the current campaign.

Song has started just nine of Barcelona’s 25 La Liga fixtures this term.
