The England man was back to his bustling best, linking midfield and attack, and running at Olympiacos at will. He set up Van Persie for the second goal.
Danny Welbeck: 7/10
His clever runs stretched Olympiacos and he won the free kick for Van Persie’s hat-trick. A lively performance.
Robin van Persie: 9/10
The Dutchman’s first Champions League hat-trick could hardly have come in a more important tie. His lethal finishing may just have saved David Moyes’ job. Hopefully he’ll be fit for the weekend after being stretched off late on.

Darren Fletcher (Welbeck ’81): 7/10
The Scot was industrious and calm in possession. He set up Rooney for a curling half-chance the forward sent wide.
Marouane Fellaini (Van Persie ’90): 7/10
Won a corner and a free kick in the last five, which were extremely useful as United ran down the clock.
