The highly rated Nigeria international has already been closely monitored by the Merseyside giants for much of this campaign, with Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers having sent his scouts over to the Italian capital to watch the player in action on several occasions in the recent past.
However, it is now understood that the north London club have also joined the race for the 21-year-old, whose form so far in this campaign has been excellent for the Romans, with the midfielder having managed to register one goal and three assists in his 35 matches in all competitions.
And now it is expected that both the Merseysiders and Spurs will go head to head for the Nigerian’s signature when the summer transfer window reopens again for business on July 1, with it thought that the Serie A outfit are likely to demand a fee of around £8m for a player who has a contract in Rome until 2016.
