Centre back is another area of the pitch that the Reds have had issues at so far in this campaign, with Rodgers’s side having let in far too many goals at present to be considered a truly world-class team.
But despite the Northern Irishman having forked out a whopping £19m in order to sign Paris Saint-Germain central defender Mamadou Sakho on transfer deadline day last September, one feels that the addition of one more top-quality centre back is needed this summer in order to move the Reds up another level.
And with Tottenham’s Belgium international having already made it clear he intends to quit White Hart Lane at the end of the campaign if the north London club fail to finish in the top four of the Premier League, and with it qualify for the Uefa Champions League, then Rodgers should attempt to beat the likes of FC Barcelona to the versatile defender’s signature.
