The agent of Everton’s on-loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has already admitted he has held talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy about a summer move to White Hart Lane, but the 20-year-old’s Belgium teammate is also under consideration.
Spurs were first linked with Benteke during Andre Villas-Boas’ tenure, and were reportedly favourites to sign the 23-year-old last summer after he handed in a transfer request at Villa Park.
But Benteke opted to remain at the Midlands club after signing an improved deal, with Spurs turning to £28m Roberto Soldado instead.
The Spaniard has failed to impress at White Hart Lane, however, bagging just two league goals from open play all season and, after Jermain Defoe’s departure to FC Toronto, the North London outfit will surely enter the market for a striker this summer.
Both Benteke and Lukaku would cost in excess of £20m and Everton, who could still qualify for the Champions League, are also interested in the latter.
While it looks unlikely Spurs could sign both, don’t bet against the Lilywhites adding to their Belgian contingent in the summer.
