The north London club are in desperate need of more cover at the back at the Emirates next season, with head coach Arsene Wenger having now identified the Argentina international as being a possible answer to some of his defensive problems.
And with Rojo being versatile enough to be able to operate as both a centre back and a left back, it is understood that Wenger is now giving serious consideration to making a move for the 24-year-old when the summer transfer window finally reopens again for business at the start of July.
However, the Gunners are set to face stiff competition for Rojo’s signature though from Premier League rivals Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester United who have all been scouting the player of late too.
Rojo has appeared in a total of 24 matches so far in this campaign in all competitions, scoring five times in the process, including three goals in his 20 league outings for the Portuguese giants.
