The Gunners are on the lookout for new signings in the attacking midfield areas this summer, having already been linked with some big names in Julian Draxler of Schalke and Fiorentina star Juan Cuadrado.
However, as the pair move further out of Arsenal’s reach, Arsene Wenger is believed to be ready to turn to Gaitan as a slightly cheaper option as his contract with the Portuguese giants expires in 2016.
Benfica are reportedly willing to sell but only if clubs can match, or offer in excess of £20m, though the Gunners aren’t the only interested parties as Manchester United, Liverpool and Fiorentina are all said to be keeping tabs on him as well.
Gaitian has only played his trade in his native Argentina and Portugal, but looks as though he is ready to take the next step to playing in a more competitive league as his performances have been getting stronger and stronger during his time in Europe.
