Geordies hope to have the South American leading their line next campaign.
Newcastle United are interested in signing Arsenal front man Joel Campbell at the end of the season, according to reports in the Daily Star.

The Costa Rica international is currently spending a season-long loan spell with Greek champions Olympiakos, however, Campbell is still expected to return to the Emirates when his stint in Athens comes to an end this summer.
But with the north London club not expected to offer the 21-year-old an opportunity to stake his claim up front next campaign, Magpies boss Alan Pardew will try to tempt the striker to St James’ Park, with the north-east outfit in desperate need of more firepower in attack.
“At the back end of last year, we struggled for goals and we addressed that by moving Yohan Cabaye up to the No.10 role further up the pitch and getting Loic on loan,” said Pardew.
“Now both those aren’t around so we’re back to where we were.
“We know that in the summer with Cabaye gone and Loic not being our player, these are areas we need to address.
“The owner is under no illusions about that and neither am I.
“Somewhere down the line, we need to get goals and we’re very focused on that.
“But you need a foundation to score goals and our problem at Southampton last week was that we never had that.”
