Arsenal Players Face Huge Pay Cut For If They Fail To Secure Champions League Berth

Some Arsenal first-team players may be forced to take a hefty pay cut were the north London club not to finish in the top four of the Premier League come the end of the season, and so fail to qualify for the lucrative Uefa Champions League as a result, according to exclusive reports in the Daily Star.

The Gunners are currently involved in a tough battle with rivals Everton to seal the fourth and final qualifying berth for Europe’s premier club competition next season, with Arsene Wenger’s men at present just a point ahead of the Merseyside giants with now just four matches of the campaign left to play.

However, if the north Londoners do somehow to slip up in their final four league fixtures to allow the Toffees to sneak past them and into the Champions League, then a number of their players will be forced to take a whopping 25 per cent pay cut on their salaries next season to compensate for the club missing out on as much as £35m worth of revenue for the first time since Wenger took charge of Arsenal in October 1996.
