9. Napoli 1997/98
There was a time not too long ago when Napoli weren’t the super slick side that they are today and were in fact often considered as relegation fodder following several seasons in the wilderness. However, this team at the tail end of the ’90s were perhaps the most disappointing as they amassed just 14 points to show for themselves despite containing several top Serie A performers including Roberto Ayala, Massimiliano Allegri, Aljoša Asanovi?Claudio Bellucci and Igor Protti. They returned two years later but it would be a while before they re-established themselves as a major force in Italian football once again.
