The Gunners defender is out of contract and has failed to agree new terms with the club despite Arsenal breaking their own policy on players over 30 to offer him a reported three-year deal.
However, it now appears that Sagna will take his curtain call in this weekend’s FA Cup final against Hull City, bringing an end to his seven year association with the club.
The 31-year-old had previously been linked with Liverpool and big spending Ligue 1 sides Paris Saint Germain and Monaco, but it seems that City have won the race by offering a lucrative offer and the chance to continue playing Champions League football.
According to The Times, Sagna has told his Gunners team-mates he will be moving to the Etihad over the summer to join the newly-crowned Premier League champions. He is set to sign a three-year deal with Manuel Pellegrini’s men, but is far from assured of regular first-team football with Pablo Zabaleta ahead of him in the pecking order.
