Everton mulling loan offer for La Liga talent, who has been scouted by Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Everton are considering making an offer to sign Atletico Madrid teenager Saul Niguez, according to the Daily Mail.
The 19-year-old has spent this season on loan at Rayo Vallecano, where he has been watched by scouts from Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Niguez has played 34 La Liga games for Vallecano. He has featured in central midfield in 21 of those matches and operated at centre-back in his other 13 league outings.
Liverpool have reportedly held talks with Niguez’s father, but the Reds’ hopes of signing the player were dented when he signed a new four-year contract with Atletico in February.
Niguez’s new deal includes a £19.5m release clause and Liverpool are unlikely to want to pay such a hefty fee.
After seeing Niguez benefit greatly from his loan stint at Vallecano, Atletico could be prepared to sanction a similar short-term move for the Spanish youth international next season.
Niguez’s versatility would make him an excellent addition to the Everton squad. He could provide cover for defenders Sylvain Distin and Phil Jagielka or perform a similar role to Gareth Barry in midfield.
