Wenger overly relied upon Olivier Giroud last season and this was one of the main reasons the north London side’s Premier League title push dipped in the early months of 2014.

With the Arsenal manager seeing both Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott as wide attacking options the only options available to act as back-up to Giroud came in the form of youngster Yaya Sanogo and bit-part player Nicklas Bendtner so one can see why Wenger would look to address the ‘problem area’ this summer.

Bony netted 25 goals in his debut season in English football and his £19m release clause is a reasonable one given his strong showing following his move to the Premier League from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.

The powerful forward would not doubt jump at the chance of a move to the Emirates Stadium, especially if he felt confident enough of ousting Giroud as the club’s first choice centre-forward.
