Barca are expected to wrap up the £16m, (€20m) deal to sign the creative Croatian by tying him down to a five-year deal.
The 26-year-old was one of the standout performers in La Liga last season as Sevilla finished in fifth place and he helped the Andalusians claim the Europa League crown with victory over Benfica in May.
Rakitic had attracted some serious interest from a number of top European clubs this season, all of whom were keen to make the player a lucrative offer to bring him to their respective clubs, though the player frequently insisted that any decision on his future would be made after the World Cup.
However, Barca have jump ahead of their rivals by agreeing a deal for his services earlier this week, and the move virtually ensures Cesc Fabregas’ exit when the transfer window reopens.
Rakitic, who is preparing for Croatia’s World Cup debut against Brazil, will sign a five-year deal with the Catalan club and his release clause is to be set at €70m.
