One of the potential replacements for Bacary Sagna at Arsenal, Lukasz Piszczek, is in talks with Barcelona about a possible move to the Nou Camp.
Borussia Dortmund right back Piszczek, known for his energetic style and marauding runs forward, had been linked with the Gunners as a possible replacement for the departing Bacary Sagna.
According to talkSPORT, however, Piszczek has begun talks with Barcelona over a possible move to the Catalan club as a replacement for Dani Alves, who is widely expected to leave the Nou Camp this summer.
The Polish international has become a mainstay of the Borussia Dortmund side that has impressed so much under Jurgen Klopp, but the Bundesliga side seem willing to let him leave Signal Iduna Park if their asking price is met.
This remains as a potential stumbling block to the transfer, however, with Dortmund’s valuation of in excess of £15 million being above what Barcelona appear to be willing to pay for Piszczek’s services, despite talks beginning in earnest with the Pole’s agent.
Piszczek joined Dortmund in 2010 from Bundesliga rivals Hertha Berlin and has established himself as a key player for the 2013 UEFA Champions League finalists, forming an impressive partnership with international teammate Jakub Blaszczykowski.
