Napoli president values youngster highly.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has laughed off claims that Arsenal are hoping to sign Lorenzo Insigne for around £20m, according to the London Evening Standard.
The 23-year-old winger is one of the most highly regarded young talents in Serie A at the moment, and will be hoping to showcase his abilities for the Italian national team at this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
Several English sides have been linked with the player in recent months, but it has been reported that Arsenal are stepping up their interest in him with a £20m offer to the Naples outfit, though it would appear they are expected to pay a great deal more than that.
De Laurentiis admits he finds rumours of this offer amusing, as he feels Insigne’s value could rise to as much as £60m or even £70m.
“Arsenal offers 20 million for Insigne? This makes me laugh. I want to make Insigne rise to a value of 60-70 million,” he is quoted as saying.
Insigne scored eight goals and provided seven assists for Rafael Benitez’s side in the 2013/14 season, and he has previously been compared with a young Alessandro Del Piero.
Arsenal are known to be on the lookout for a new winger this summer, and have also been linked with Barcelona pair Alexis Sanchez and Pedro Rodriguez.
