Rickie Lambert started the summer exodus at St Mary’s by agreeing a switch to Liverpool, and fellow England international Luke Shaw completed a big-money move to Manchester United on Friday.
Saints midfielder Adam Lallana is also set to leave as he is reportedly in Liverpool to undergo a medical at Anfield and there is now mounting speculation that Schneiderlin is set to become the latest player to join the exodus from St Mary’s.
Arsenal have been touted as favourites to land his signature, but the 24-year-old has declined to be drawn in on the gossip by insisting that he is solely focussed on France’s last-16 encounter with Nigeria on Monday evening.
“Listen, I’m aware of Southampton’s situation,” he said.

“I’ve been there for a long time now. We’ll see how things go, but the directors know my position and what my intentions are.
“Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands, so we’ll see. Every player wants to play on big occasions.”
