AC Milan have reportedly made an approach to Arsenal over the possibility of signing exciting young forward Joel Campbell this summer, according to Inside Futbol.
The Gunners starlet had an impressive showing for Costa Rica at this summer’s World Cup, helping his side to a surprise win in Group D and a run to the quarter-finals, ending in a penalty shoot-out defeat to the Netherlands.
This has seen a number of clubs show an interest in the 22-year-old, who is yet to make an appearance for Arsenal since joining the club in 2011, with the last three seasons being spent out on loan in a bid to gain a work permit as well as some first-team experience.
Campbell may now have done enough to put himself in contention for Arsene Wenger’s first-team, but his performances have also made him a top target for Milan manager Filippo Inzaghi as he looks to strengthen his side for next season.
Milan had a highly disappointing year, finishing eighth in Serie A, and they are eyeing a number of other high-profile transfer targets as well, with the likes of Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri and Real Sociedad star Antoine Griezmann also said to be on their list.
